“The first two non-financial casualties of job loss are confidence and the sense of who you are”. So said Cllr David Walsh as he talked about the concerns which had prompted him to start our newest Job Club. Mayor of Gillingham Cllr Su Hunt then cut the ribbon and jobseekers streamed into the Jubilee Room in Gillingham Town Hall.
It’s the vision and compassion of people like David who get these voluntary community projects off the ground. As always, it was a pleasure to see the Club swing into action with people striking up conversations, sharing their job seeking experiences and looking through local papers.
GB Job Clubs congratulates the Gillingham team on their achievement in establishing this resource and looks forward to reporting on their progress. Gillingham Work Club meets on Friday mornings. See Directory for full details.
